A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to My Husbands Funeral..

No it didn’t. Of course not.
There was absolutely nothing funny about that day. Or that moment. Or any of it. But I cracked sick jokes anyway. I laughed like a lunatic at times. I did that during the murder trial too. Not because I was amused by any of it.
But because I was so desperate to make the pain stop for even a nanosecond that I’d grab on to any reason to laugh.
I love Lou with every single fiber of my being. Losing him lit every single nerve on fire. No one had ever love b=me the way he did.
I was convinced no one else ever would- or that I even wanted to try to find out.
Have you ever felt like that- like you are drowning in front of everyone and no one can save you? Like every breath hurts, and like the thought of one more minute in that kind of pain was more than you could stand?
If you’ve ever loved someone like I love Lou- and then lost them- you have.
That’s why I wrote this story, turned it into a screenplay, and am now hellbent to bring it to life in a film.
Because I survived that, and so did you. And we can celebrate that together. But someone, somewhere, is still drowning. And this film can give them the strength to swim.
To laugh real laughter, even through tears. Laughing through tears is an incredible feeling, isn’t it?
So today….
It’s Official – The GoFundMe is LIVE for How to Woo a Widow 🎬💔✨
Next month will be 20 years since my husband Lou was killed in Iraq. That moment split my life in two: Before and After. I’ve spent the years since raising my kids, building a new life, helping others share their stories, and speaking about grief, resilience, and rebuilding.
I wrote How to Woo a Widow almost 15 years ago. It’s not just a romantic dramedy. It’s a love letter to anyone who’s loved and lost, who’s laughed through tears, and who dares to believe in second chances. It’s heartbreak and hilarity. It's raw and real.
I’ve partnered with the incredibly talented director Christopher Martini of Triple Martini Productions to bring this film to life.
But we can’t do it alone.
The GoFundMe campaign is now live, and this first step will help us build the pitch deck, budget package, and momentum to bring investors and actors on board.
Hop on over, join our team as we bring this to life. When the time comes to invite people to be in this film: as extras, a small speaking role, to hang out at table reads and meet the cast… all of it- the list of people who donate and share this is thelist I will be sending those invitations to!
